PARTICIPATING ARTISTS:

MARIO DE VEGA

Mario de Vega's work makes use of acoustic phenomena to explore liminal zones aurality. His visual art has been exhibited in Mexico, North America, Chile, South Africa, India, South Korea, China, Russia, Japan and around Europe. He lives and works in Berlin and Mexico City. Since 2020, he is professor for Sound-Art at the Kunsthochschule Kassel.

MICHAEL BARTHEL

From 2009 his focus shifted to working with language in writing, sound and visual arts. He lives and works in Leipzig.

SEWER ELECTION
The sound of everything falling apart. Sewer Election is Gothenburg's Dan Johansson who performs bent, crude and raw experimental noise touching elbows with both the Swiss action group Schimpfluch and contemporary underground noise. Dan has put out a fine line of releases for the past decade and is known for giving his audience sort of a in-of-body experience, whatever that means. Dan was one of the guys running the filthy but nice Utmarken venue in Gothenburg for a few years, the centre for various odd balls and lost kids into weird sounds on the west coast. Johansson is also running the Usagi label for harsh noise and allover weirdness.

NADINE BYRNE
Nadine Byrne is a musician and visual artist based in Stockholm. Her interdisciplinary artistic practice spans across sound, sculpture, performance and film. She often explores themes of memory and loss originating in her own personal history. Her practice is also informed by her fascination towards visual and social manifestations of alternative constructions of reality. At EXTRAVAGANZ II, Byrne will present some of her film works.

LEIF ELGGREN
Leif Elggren (b.1950) is a Swedish writer, visual artist, stage performer and composer active since the late 1970s. He is one of the most constantly surprising conceptual artists to work in the combined worlds of audio and visual. His wide-ranging and prolific body of art often involves dreams and subtle absurdities, social hierarchies turned upside-down, hidden actions and events taking on the quality of icons. Together with artist Carl Michael von Hausswolff, he is a founder of the Kingdoms of Elgaland-Vargaland (KREV) where he enjoys the title of king.

JOKE LANZ
Born 1965 in Basel Switzerland. Currently based in Berlin. A veteran of performance art & noise music subculture. Formed SUDDEN INFANT in 1989. He is one of the most prolific and profound artists working in the border zones where performance and body art meet Improvisation and Noise.

DENIAL LÖWENBRÜCK
Daniel Löwenbrück (b.1974) is a German performance artist, creator of tape-music, curator and (sometimes) visual-artist. He founded the label Tochnit Aleph in 1994, and between 2008 and 2021 curated Rumpsti Pumsti (Musik) in Berlin, a store & exhibition space specialized in sound art and conceptual music. Löwenbrück performed internationally since the late 1990's, either solo or as part of the Schimpfluch-Gruppe (with Rudolf Eb.er, Dave Phillips, Joke Lanz), as a duo with singer and performance artist Doreen Kutzke, as part of Ohne (with Tom Smith, Dave Phillips, Reto Mäder), with Swedish conceptual artist Leif Elggren, and Brazilian video- and sound-artist Marcellvs L.

ORGAN OF CORTI
Born out of a common interest in the repetitive, challenging and intense the three-headed dragon Organ of Corti is a new collaboration project between Swedish sound experts Joachim Nordwall (IDEAL Records, Gagmen), Mattias Gustafsson (Altar of Flies) and Dan Johansson (Sewer Election, Enhet för Fri Musik). Inspired by tape music from the 60s, minimal music, early industrial and collective creativity their sound is unique and unheard of. While Gustafsson and Johansson deliver their trademark crumbling tape loops, Nordwall adds spacious analogue synth layers. Carefully mixing these bare elements into a hypnotic journey.

KRUBE.
Sound Artist, based in Berlin/Kreuzberg. Working under the Krube. moniker since 1999. Hyper tight musique concrete that combines sounds from everyday objects, body openings and non-definable machinery.

DJ CHRISTIAN STADSGAARD
Posh Isolation

DJ JEAN-LOUIS HUHTA
